Our mother, friend and confidante, passed away in Lindsay at Victoria Manor on May 16, 2019 at the age of 94. Predeceased by her husband Gerrit, and her six siblings. She leaves to celebrate her long and wonderful life, her five children: Henk (Ena), Ike (Mitch), Gerrit (Holly), Shirley (Doug) and Grace (Jamie); grandchildren: Judy (Raymond), Tanya, Gen (Eric), Charlie (Kelly), Becky (James), Lauren, Peggy, Kris (Denton) and Jodie (Santai); great grandchildren: Shawn, Shane, James. Helena, Maryeh (Judy), Nora, Theo (Gen), Henry, Finley (Charlie), Mowat, Azalea (Peg), Clara (Kris), Soila and Nemayian (Jodie) and Olivia and Sophie (Becky). Peggy came to Canada from the Netherlands in 1955, and originally settled in Prescott, ON. The family moved to the Ottawa area in the mid sixties, where she worked for the Doctors Rabb in Richmond. In the mid seventies, she and her husband moved to Dwight, and bought and expanded Henrietta’s Bakery. After a very successful decade of meat pies, great bread and pastries, she and Gerrit retired to Wakefield, QC. After her husband’s passing, she moved to Lindsay, where she was able to enjoy many years of retirement and the love and companionship of her extended family. Our family would like to express our sincerest thanks to the staff of Elford House at Victoria Manor for the wonderful care she received while she was there. As per Peggy’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no funeral service. A family get together is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please make donations to the charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made at www.lakelandfuneralcentre.com.
