Passed away peacefully in her 85th year on February 21, 2022 at Hospice Wellington following 2 years of esophageal cancer. She was born in Fergus, Ontario on June 2nd, 1936, to the late Henry (2004) and the late Florence (1986) Chamberlain. Florence was raised in Elora and still calls Elora her home. Beloved wife of the late Bert Rickett (1992) and former wife of the late Harry Spies (1988). Predeceased by her only sibling Wm. Henry (Harry) Chamberlain (2008), her stepmother Alice (Gerrie) Chamberlain (2013) and her son-in-law Ron Collier (2018). Mother of her five children Elizabeth (Beth) Kuhnke (Carl), Margaret Collier (the late Ron, 2018), Kenneth Spies (Debbie Lyle), Steven Spies (Wendy Page) and Wm. Robert (Bob) Spies (Tina Phungtham). She is survived by her sisters-in-law Marie Chamberlain of Elora, Ruth (Spies) Shortt of Strathroy, Phyliss St. Dennis of Calgary and Gwen Bratvold of Durham and her brothers-in-laws Bruce and Paul Spies both of Calgary. Also survived by 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 4 step-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her very close friends Vera Speers (like a sister), Irene Pfaff, Audrey Lobb, Bernice Dimma and Marjorie Campbell as well as many other friends from Guelph Hydro where she worked for 30 years. Also, her Lion’s Head family and other extended family. After she retired, she did a lot of travelling with her friend Vera Speers and spent most of her summers at her trailer in Lion’s Head for almost 40 years enjoying the view of the bay. She loved all her friends and family on Facebook and enjoyed wishing them Happy Birthday and Anniversary wishes. Friends will be received at the Wall-Custance Funeral Home & Chapel, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph on Friday, February 25, 2022 from 2-5pm. Cremation has taken place and interment will be held in the Elora Cemetery with her late Mother and Father (Henry and Florence Chamberlain).
