Obituary

Of Fergus (formally of Guelph / Mount Forest). Born to Albert and Mabel Lovett. The family of Patricia Richards is heartbroken to announce her peaceful passing on Monday October 2 2023 at Wellington Terrace, Fergus. Wife of the late Leslie Raymond William Richards (2014). Much loved mom of Douglas Richards (2017) and Lesley Vasey (Bob), adored Grandma of Kristopher (Heather), Amber (Les), Ryan (Rina) and treasured nana of Liam, Grey and Reeve. Pat was diagnosed with COPD when she was 60. She quit smoking, became an avid walker and learned as much as she could about COPD upon her diagnosis. Between that and her very strong will she was able to continue living an active life for many years. She enjoyed going on road trips with Amber as the navigator, going out for lunches and working on her many cross stitching projects. She adored all family celebrations and loved nothing more than having a drink with her “drinking buddy” Bob. She was so proud of all of her grandkids and was thrilled beyond words when her great grandkids arrived. Not one to complain she simply lived life to the fullest. As Pats’ health declined she spent her last 18 months living at Wellington Terrace (Fergus) where we were fortunate to meet some amazing caregivers with the biggest hearts. A very special heartfelt thank you to Dr. Stickney and the nurses and PSW’s that went above and beyond in taking care of mom – especially her last few days. Cheers to such an amazing lady! She showed us the true meaning of strength and she will be missed beyond words. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held. Memorial donations to Canadian Lung Association or Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.
