REINER, Barb

Barbara Louise (Blinkhorn) Reiner of Mount Forest passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024, in her 80th year. Wife of the late Nicholas ‘Nick’ Reiner. Mother of Mike & Tammy Reiner of Mount Forest, Mark & Dawn Reiner of Kelowna, B.C., and Heather Vieira of Mitchell. Grandmother of Todd Reiner & Alex Wright, Tyler Reiner & Stacey Strauss, Brooke Reiner, Kirsten Reiner, and Nicholas Vieira. Sister of Pat & Diane Blinkhorn, Jennifer & Joe Schochter, Rob & Paula Blinkhorn, and Doug ‘Digger’ & Angela Blinkhorn. Sister-in-law of Louise Ludwig & Darcy Black, Kathy Nuhn, and Stephen Reiner. Remembered by her companion George Whetham, and by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Bill and Marjorie Blinkhorn, and Helen Shaw. Barb was born in Nova Scotia in 1945. She grew up in London until she and her father moved to Kitchener with his new bride, Marjorie. Barb, her sister, and brothers grew up in Kitchener. They enjoyed many weekends and vacations at their cottage in Goderich with Mike, Mark and Heather, and the Blinkhorn family. Barb and Nick were high school sweethearts, married in 1966. It wasn’t long before they started their family and moved to Appalachian Crescent.  They moved to Heidelberg, then Dartmoore Crescent in Waterloo. Barb worked most of her working life at Sears. In retirement, Barb and Nick moved to Pike Lake Golf Course where she worked in the office, the caddy shack and the restaurant. Barb was most happy in her flowerbeds and spending time with her grandkids who lovingly called her Grandma and Mama! There were many golf cart rides, sleepovers, boat rides, campfires and fond memories over the years. After Nick passed, Barb enjoyed time with her companion George and his family. They enjoyed many dinners out, dances in the kitchen and holidays in Florida. We are forever grateful for the loving, caring staff at Caressant Care in Harriston and for all of the family and friends who continually supported Barb and her family during her final years in long term care. Visitation was held at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston, on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 1:00pm until the time of the funeral service at 2:00pm. Doug Bott officiated. Reception followed at the Harriston Legion. The service was live-streamed, and the link is available on the funeral home website.
