RANDALL, George (Oliver) John

After 100 years of life’s adventures, our father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather passed away peacefully on Dec. 19th at Groves Memorial Community Hospital. He is predeceased by his parents George and Sarah, his first wife Helen (Arndt), his two brothers James and William Randall and his granddaughter Sarah. He is survived by his devoted wife Shirley (and family) and his sisters-in-law Eunice and Jeanette Randall. Oliver will be especially missed by his children Sandra Dyer, Dave Randall, Dr. Robert Randall (Alison), Beverly Henderson, Thomas Randall (Ellen) Margaret (Peggy) Stonier and all the many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He is also predeceased by his sons-in-law David Dyer, Allan Henderson, Albert Stonier and his daughter-in-law Jeanne (Ingram). Oliver was a farmer with a love of all things outdoors. In his early years he lived through the depression on the family farm near Alma. During the war he was recruited into the Royal Winnipeg Rifles at 18, served overseas and was wounded at the Battle of the Scheldt. He built a house near Belwood in 1975 along with the help of his wife Helen, his father and his sons. He was fortunate enough to live there for 49 years. Nobody could laugh heartier or sneeze louder than our dad. He could tell a story, — draw a crowd, — everyone chuckling along with him. In his later years, Oliver loved to fish near Combermere and enjoyed numerous trips to Cuba. In many ways Oliver was larger than life. His family meant everything to him and in return he was much loved. His positive nature, his wisdom, and life lessons in the stories he told will live on in the hearts of all that knew him. He will be missed. In an expression of sympathy donations may be made to Groves Memorial Hospital Foundation, Fergus Legion Poppy Fund, St. James Anglican Church or charity of your choice.
