PRING, Marion (nee Matheson)

Marion passed away peacefully at home at the age of 85 years old on the morning of Sunday, October 15, 2023 surrounded by her family. Marion was born and raised on a farm outside Listowel and after marrying in 1959. She dedicated herself to being a gentle and loving mother. She made every holiday a special event, loved spending time in the kitchen baking sweet things for her family and was always there to listen and, when asked, always had the best advise and guidance for her family and friends. Marion decided to go back to work and spent 20 + years at Imperial Tobacco, Guelph. During retirement, Marion and John spent many happy years travelling in their motorhome all over North American. She especially loved their winter holidays in Arizona enjoying the warm weather. She shared her love of gardening, bird watching, baking, board games and music with her grandchildren. Marion was an amazing role model to everyone with her easy going way, kindness, compassion and a quiet yet sharp sense of humour. Marion enjoyed the simplest pleasures in life. She loved spending time in the kitchen baking for her family. She enjoyed gardening, baking, travelling with her best friend to the desert in Arizona for many winters, as well as to many old country music & bluegrass festivals wherever and whenever they could. Marion instilled a sense of calm, reserve and class by listening more than speaking, and all the while treated all people with respect. She set a standard by which everyone learned. Marion was a brave and strong woman who fought many health challenges over the years but maintained a positive attitude throughout with a sense of grace and calm. She was surrounded by all of her family who will continue to honour her legacy by living life to the fullest. She will be dearly missed by her husband and best friend of 64 years John Pring, her children Kevin and Shelley (Ray Chyc), her 5 grandchildren Devon (Alberta), Taryn (Tennessee), Marley (Tampa), Kylie and Sam (Rockwood) for whom she had special relationships with. At Marion’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of life at a later date to be announced. Arrangements entrusted to Wall-Custance Funeral Home & Chapel (519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com). Donations in memory of Marion can be directed to Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario. A tree will be planted in memory of Marion K. Pring in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
