Peacefully at St. Joseph’s Health Care Centre in Guelph on Saturday July 27, 2019. Lucy (Vanderbent) Pool of Erin in her 64th year after a 3-year battle with cancer. Lucy was born on December 28th, 1954 to Elizabeth and Joost Vanderbent of Erin, Ontario. Lucy was a dedicated mother first, with a wicked sense of humour and a punchline for every occasion. She was the loving mother of Christina (James) Bartley of Trowbridge, Gregory (Jennifer) Pool of Whitby and Sandy Pool of London U.K. Cherished grandmother of Jocelyn, Kayla and Léa. Dear sister of Dirk Vanderbent of Hamilton and sister-in-law Sue, and Casey Vanderbent of Elliot Lake and partner Verna. Lucy was an avid gardener, reader, motorcyclist and glider pilot. She is also survived by her beloved husband and flying instructor, Neil Pool. The family would like to thank the Walcott family for their incredible support throughout this journey. The family wishes to thank all the doctors and nursing staff at St. Joseph’s Health Care Centre, Guelph for their amazing care as well as their family doctor, Dr. Duncan Bull. The family will receive friends for visitation only at MacIntyre Family Funeral Home, 5399 Wellington Road 52, Erin on Saturday August 3, 2019 from 5:00 – 8:00pm.
