PIERCE,  Joyce

Joyce Lillian (Wallace) Pierce, formerly of Harriston died peacefully at home in Arthur, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, June 22, 2023, in her 80th year. Loved by her husband Mac, her four children Cindy (Fred) Krul of Arthur, John (Wendy) Pierce of Renfrew, Stefany Pierce of Toronto, and Mathew (Cathy) Pierce of Toronto. Missed by her grandchildren Ryan (Marielle) Krul, James (Steph) Krul, Rosie Krul, Sarah (Tyler) Hallman-Krul, Sawyer Pierce and Charlie Iskander, and great-grandchildren Brett and Owen Krul and Maeve Turk. Joyce grew up in Renfrew, Ontario, where she and her husband Mac raised their family. There were many happy gatherings at home and at their cottage on Hurd’s Lake with family and friends. Joyce loved to host a party, bringing together folks from all walks of life for great food and music; once one party was over she’d begin planning for the next. That continued with the family’s move to Palmerston in the 1970s when Mac took a teaching job at Norwell D.S.S. and Joyce started working in the school cafeteria. Many parties featured the Norwell teacher’s band where Joyce played piano. Community service was important to Joyce and she volunteered for many organizations including school reading programs and for the Canadian justice system in the Witness support program. When she and Mac returned to Minto after some years living back in Renfrew, Joyce enjoyed working at the Blessings Store in Palmerston. She soon became their best customer as well. Joyce loved pop in visits with grandchildren and great-grandchildren and phone calls from family far away, her daily walks and Christmas movies in September, jive dancing and dirty martinis. Her zest for life, her unending kindness and her love for her family and friends will leave for all of us who knew her a treasured memory. Private family arrangements have been entrusted to the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston. In lieu of flowers, Joyce’s family requests as an expression of sympathy that donations be made to your local food bank. Online condolences may be left at www.hardyleefuneralhome.com
