It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne, with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, January 3rd at Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus. He was in his 81st year. Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Rita, and his children; Kelly (Kevin), Carla (Keith) and Michael (Michelle). He was the proud and devoted grandfather of Kyle, Corey, Benjamin, Stefanie and Eric. Wayne was always curious regarding their interests, supporting them through his kind gestures and words of encouragement. He will also be missed by his fur grandchildren; Bowzer, Milo and Gordo. Wayne is survived by his sisters; Sharon (Dave) and Laurie (Pat), and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Isabell and Edward, his brother, Brian and his sister, Jackie. Wayne loved his family tremendously and will be greatly missed. Wayne was a dedicated driver with Guelph Transit for over 30 years before retiring. During his retirement Wayne loved woodworking, his volunteer work at Groves Memorial Hospital and spending time with family and friends. Wayne was a long standing volunteer at Groves, where he loved nothing more than to bring smiles to the faces of many hospital visitors. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff connected to Groves Memorial Hospital whose kindness, support and overall love for Wayne bring comfort to his family. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Wayne may be made to the Groves Memorial Hospital Foundation. A visitation will be held at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home in Fergus on Saturday, January 13th from 10am – 12pm and 2pm – 4pm.
