Our beloved mother, Donna Jean Oliver (Dick) of Fergus, Ontario, at the age of 80, left us peacefully on Friday, November 29th, at Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus. Donna is survived by her daughters Anita Way (Brad) and Annette McDougall (the late Sean McDougall), sisters Patricia Scarrow (the late Bill Scarrow), Cathy Lymburner (Morley), grandchildren Melissa Miller (Aaron), Barry Way (Ashley), Hayden and Hunter McDougall, great-grandchildren, Peyton, Brock, Emersyn, James, Mackenzie, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Donna also enjoyed the company of her many dear friends. Donna is predeceased by her husband John Leunissen, her parents Jack and Jean Dick, and brother Bob (Sandy) Dick. Donna was born in Fergus, Ontario, to Jack and Jean Dick on November 21st, 1944. She had a beautiful smile and a wonderful zest for life. Donna enjoyed numerous travels and worked for many years as caregiver to both the young and the elderly. She was a wonderful Grandma and Great-Grandma with beautiful, kind, giving hands. She was always busy baking (Christmas shortbread), knitting (baby blankets) and sewing (baby quilts). Donna was always cooking up something special for her family and friends and, loved a good game of cards, listening to music and dancing. To honour Donna’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service; however, a quiet Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, and because Donna suffered with COPD and cancer, donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association (https://www.lung.ca/donate) or the Canadian Cancer Society (https://cancer.ca/en/). The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Rose-Janes and Dr. Kekulawala, and the compassionate and caring nurses and personal support workers, 3rd floor of Groves Hospital. Their kindness will always be remembered. Arrangements are entrusted to the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David Street South, Fergus, Ontario.
