Passed away peacefully at Wellington Terrace, Elora, on October 16th, 2023, in his 99th year. He was the loving husband of Kathryn (Hughes) Oldfield (2011) and much-loved father of Robert (Jane) Oldfield of Kingston, Lynda (George) White of Arthur, and David (Susan) Oldfield of Fergus. Loving grandfather to Kerri (Tim) Dejean-Wicks, Barbra (Ken) Wagg, Natalie (Andrew) von Teichman, Lauren (Ryan) Woods and Lesley (Jay) McClement and 15 amazing great grandchildren. Bruce Oldfield was a pillar of the Fergus community for over 70 years, setting up a dental practice when he was 21 years old and retiring at the age of 67. He was a long-time and founding member of the Fergus Rotary Club and enjoyed all the events that the Fergus Rotary club was involved in. He was an avid curler, was a past President of the Fergus Curling Club and a long-time member of Melville United Church in Fergus. Bruce loved his family time and the time he spent with his many friends. Visitation is Friday October 20th, 2023, at Melville United Church, corner of St. Andrew and Tower Street, Fergus, Ontario from 10:00am to 11:30am, service at 11:30am with refreshments to follow after the service. The Oldfield family would like to express our sincere appreciation to the amazing staff at Wellington Terrace who looked after dad so well. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Arrangements are entrusted to The Graham Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David Street South, Fergus. As requested by the family, in lieu of flowers, donations can be directed towards The Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus.
