It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend; Rick, on Monday, January 14, 2019 in his 63rd year. Rick will be dearly and sadly missed by his beloved wife Linda (nee Williams) of 42 years. Loving father of Karen (Joe) Turcotte and Jeffery (Natasha) Newman. Proud Poppa to Trevor, Sebastian, Benjamin and Frederick. Loving son of Ruth (nee Wheeler) and the late Norman. Rick will be remembered by his sisters Kathy (Ken Connor), Kimberly and the late Fay (Joe Cyganek). Rick was born in Streetsville, and then moved to Acton in his teens where he graduated from Acton High School, and played Lacrosse for many years with the Acton Rams. He loved to work outside and spent 35 years as the proprietor of Newman Landscaping during the summer months and maintaining furnaces in the community during the winter months. He was a great fan of car racing, liked to curl, traveling and spending time with his grandsons; watching them play sports, attending school concerts or taking them for rides in a vehicle around the property. He was always helpful to any friend or neighbor that needed a helping hand or just spending time visiting and talking. In keeping with Rick’s wishes, the family will receive friends at the Royal Canadian Legion, 15 Wright Ave., Acton on Friday, January 25, 2019 from 4:00pm – 5:00pm. A Memorial Service will follow at 5:00pm. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to Cancer Assistance Services of Halton Hills (CASHH) or Hospice Wellington would be appreciated by the family.
