Murray, Anne (nee Peace); Passed away peacefully on February 13th at the Groves Community Hospital in Fergus, with her family by her side. Anne was born on December 14, 1943 in Liverpool, England to Edna and Norman Peace. She graduated as a physiotherapist in 1965, before immigrating to Canada in 1966. She worked in England with her close, dear friend Marcia Haworth and Toronto’s Sick Kid’s Hospital with great friend Judi Johnston. Anne met Paul Murray at Judi’s wedding, and three weeks later they were engaged! They married February 17th, 1968. Kimberly arrived first, with Christopher arriving a few years later. At that time, Anne left physiotherapy to dedicate herself full-time to raising her children. Anne and Paul decided the country-life suited their active family and moved to a 5-acre property in Vandorf, Ontario in 1976. The land allowed Anne to indulge her love of gardening, which she eventually transformed into her second career. Anne worked as a gardener for numerous years, first as an employee then by running her own successful business. She was also able to indulge in her love of travelling over the years, including trips to Australia, New Zealand and going to see the animals on safari in South Africa. In later years Anne struggled with the effects of COPD. After her diagnosis in 2005, she worked diligently to maintain her health to its fullest. Anne and Paul left Vandorf to join Kim and Jeff in Elora in 2010. Anne’s greatest joy was watching her four grandkids play and laugh together during family gatherings in Vandorf and, later, Elora. Highlights included Easter egg hunts, summer get togethers for tire swings and make-shift water slide adventures and Thanksgiving celebrations including pumpkin carvings, family barn paintings and family portraits. Winters saw the family celebrating Christmas together, with the highlight being Christmas morning watching the grandkids open their presents. As per Anne’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service, but a party to celebrate her life at a later date, perhaps the spring. Because of Anne’s life-long love of reading, the family intends to set up a trust in Anne’s memory with the Aboyne Library. She would love for her legacy to be encouraging young readers. For anyone interested in making a donation in her memory, please contact either the Aboyne library at (519)846-0918 or Kim Doerr at kimberdoerr@gmail.com for more details.Anne is survived by her loving, devoted husband Paul, daughter Kim, her husband Jeff and their boys Evan and Ryan Doerr; son Christopher, his wife Tracey Kenney and their children Jackson and Maria Murray; brother Neil Peace, his wife Margie and their children; sister Alex Peace, her husband Peter Williams and their children.
