93, passed peacefully with her children by her side, on June 12, 2024. Irene is predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Edward Mulcahy (2012). Predeceased by her parents Valeda Vallee (1989) and Gordon McMeekin (1974). Survived by her children, Sandra (John), Bill (Sheri), and Sharon (Oscar). Grandmother to Christine (Gavin), Kelly (Reggie), John, Scott (Amber), and Jennifer (Payton). Great grandmother to Connor, Cole, Taylor, and Shannon. Longtime friend, Jean MacDonald from Verdun, Quebec will miss her dear friend and long talks. Irene will be missed by many nieces and nephews, especially Lorraine and David. Special mention to her “gang” at the Victoria Park Senior Centre, especially Liz and Donna. They shared many luncheon’s and bus trips. Mom also enjoyed her weekly bingo games. Also, many thanks to Dr. Kamminga and all the nurses at Groves Hospital who helped make Mom‘s last hours very peaceful. Visitation for Irene took place on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David St. South, Fergus, from 2-4pm & 7-9pm. A Funeral Mass was held on Monday, June 17, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 760 St. David St. North, Fergus, at 11:00am. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
