54, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2021 at Holland Gardens Retirement Home in Bradford. After a courageous battle with a rare form of dementia, Sharon made the brave decision to have Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD), surrounded by her family. Sharon, predeceased by her parents Arnold and Lois, will be profoundly missed by her two brothers, Mark (Julie) and Glenn (Sabina) and her nieces and nephews Rachel, Paige, Scott, Andrew, Elyse and Jordan; as well as by her friends. Sharon, who grew up in the Fergus/Elora area, will be remembered for her love of all-things related to family, music, animals, Halloween, Christmas, and chocolate. She took great joy in the Morell family haunted house, playing Christmas Carols on the piano with family, spending time with her nieces and nephews, card games, and travel. She was a talented musician, playing the piano, flute, and bagpipes and she worked as part of the Cadets music program for many years. Her cross stitch creations also proudly adorn every family members’ home. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, especially at the annual Morell Christmas Eve skate, where she proudly wore her Maple Leaf hockey jersey with her nickname “Tipsy” on the back (due to her skating skills, not her drinking habits). By Sharon’s request, a family celebration will be held at a later time. Memorial Donations may be made in Sharon’s name to the Canadian Wildlife Federation, cwf-fcf.org/en/. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff of Holland Gardens Retirement home for their care and compassion, as well as to the MAiD coordinator and evaluators who helped honour Sharon’s wishes.
