Moore, Irvine Alexander Franklin; The family of Irvine Alexander Franklin Moore sadly announce his passing on Sunday, September 29, 2013 in his 87th year, after a six month battle with cancer, with his family and dear companion Eileen Leslie by his side, at St. Marys Memorial Hospital. Survived by his five children Greg (Lynda) of Orangeville, Gloria (David Christilaw) of Brantford, Deanna (Jim Brown) of Orangeville, Debra (Brennan Mournahan) of Guelph and Glenn of Brantford. Also survived by ten grandchildren Rachel (Tony) and Sheryl; Adrian (Anna Lisa), Adam (Hayley) and Sarah; Brett (Margaret), Tim and Shelley; Melanie (Mike) and Caralee (Dave); and thirteen great-grandchildren and one on the way. Irvine is predeceased by his parents Bernice (nee Hazzard) and Julian Alexander and his brother Oscar. Dad was born in Plainfield, Ont. on January 4th, 1927 and went to the University of Guelph to learn and make cheese. His first job took him to St. Marys where he also spent his last days. He went to Hastings County and met our mother Anna Ruth Longwell (predeceased 1997). They bought Reith’s Hardware and Men’s Wear in 1963 in Grand Valley where he also served for 27 years on the Grand Valley Fire Department as Fire Chief for 21 years. Upon retirement Dad enjoyed lots of fun times in Florida and Lake St. Peter and St. Marys. He will be missed by his Florida and St. Marys shuffle board friends and golfing buddies. He enjoyed his life and family, loving us all to the end. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simes Funeral Home, 48 Main St. S., Grand Valley, where the family will greet friends on Saturday, October 5th, 2013 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in Foxboro at a later date. Interment will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, River Road South, R.R. # 1 Corbyville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grand Valley and District Fire Department or the Canadian Cancer Society. The family appreciates any donations made on Dad’s behalf.
