It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mom and cherished wife, Kathy Meyer in her 85th year. Kathy was married to the love her life, Joe Meyer, for 63 years. She was the very proud mother of Sharon, and her children, Joshua (Isobel) and Kyle; Joanne and her husband Andy, and their children, Emma (Jacob), Katie (Mathias), Jacob (Cara), and Abigayle (Jeremy); Judy and her husband Jason, and their children, Madison, Jesse and Scott; Kelly and her husband Sean, and their children, Jude and Amelia. Katheryn was predeceased by her parents Luke and Jane Sullivan. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters’ in-law who over the years have been more than family, they were friends. For those that had the privilege of knowing Kathy, she loved life and took great pleasure in the simple things. There was never a butter tart that she didn’t love, a stranger that she wouldn’t greet with a smile and a compliment, nor a shopping opportunity she would miss. She loved a competitive game of cards and enjoyed any opportunity to spend time with her friends. Kathy was a voracious reader and while she didn’t travel the world, literature gave her a breadth and depth of understanding of the important things in life and her perspectives and wisdom have made each of her daughters and her husband the better for it. Her life was rich, she cherished her family more than anything in this world. Her grandchildren were her absolute pride and joy; and she would never miss the chance to spend time with them. She relished their successes, supported their endeavours and was her very happiest when surrounded by them. In the past few years mom has had many health complications which she faced with strength and dignity. She could not have been more supported than she was by her husband, Joe, and never missed a chance to express her love and gratitude for his comfort, commitment, and support as she faced each day. It goes without saying that our hearts are truly broken at this significant loss, but we know how blessed we have been to have been loved by her. Kathy’s faith grounded her in all that she did, and we believe that she is now embraced in the loving arms of Jesus. There have been promises made that we commit to keeping, mom. We will always take care of dad, the memory of you will always be kept alive, the candy dish will never go empty, and we will fulfill our promise to visit Ireland for you, a place you only visited in your dreams. Visitation was held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 from 3:00 – 5:00 & 7:00 – 9:00pm at the England Funeral Home, 294 Main Street South, Mount Forest, with vigil prayers at 8:30pm. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Mary of the Purification Catholic Church, 310 Parkside Drive, Mount Forest, on Wednesday, June 26th at 11:00am. Reception followed at the Mount Forest Legion, Branch 134. Private interment took place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mount Forest. Those wishing to donate in memory of Kathy are asked to consider the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation. The family would like to thank the medical team that cared so well for mom over the past few years, especially Dr. Reaume, and Kim McCarthy, who ensured mom and her family were supported. To Dr. Jayaram and the nursing staff, thank you for your compassion and care in her final moments. Online donations and condolences available at www.englandfuneralhome.com
