Metcalfe, Lorne; of Harriston – passed away at Caressant Care Nursing Home, Harriston on Sunday, April 13, 2014 in his 85th year. Lorne was the beloved husband of Olive Metcalfe, and father of Carol Ortelli and her husband Malcolm of Kitchener, and Wallace Metcalfe and his wife Luce of Laverochere, QC. Remembered by his grandchildren Katrina and Ryan Telfer, Sabrina Metcalfe, and Jessie Metcalfe, and by his great-grandchildren Benjamin, Emerson and Vincent Telfer. He was the brother of Earle Metcalfe of Toronto, Edgar and Hilda Metcalfe of Orangeville, Alan Metcalfe of Toronto, and Donald and Diane Metcalfe of Thunder Bay. Lorne and Olive farmed on his home farm at Bradford before moving to Harriston in 1968. He raised Registered Hereford cattle, and was a member of Harriston United Church, Harriston Agricultural Society, Ontario Hereford’s Association, Ontario Cream Producers, Federation of Agriculture and Farm Safety Association. Friends may call at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston on Friday, April 18 from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 19 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Harriston Cemetery.
