McPHERSON, Dorothy Irene (nee Rusnak) 

March 1, 1933 - May 7, 2024

Peacefully on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Headwaters Health Care Centre Orangeville, ON. Dorothy McPherson age 91 years a resident of the Avalon Retirement Lodge with her beloved husband Herbert Francis McPherson of 73 years. Mother of Donald (Marie) of Barrie, Patricia (Ramon Tosh) of Georgetown, Valerie (Doug Leitch) of Erin, Tim (late wife Lisa), and Michelle of Guelph. Foster Mother to the late Ken (Georgina) of Elmira and the late Stan (Agnes) of Langton. Grandmother of 20, Great Grandmother of 14 and Great, Great Grandmother of 1 (making 35 in total). Dorothy was born to Robert and Mary Rusnak of Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. March 1, 1933. She was the eldest of 11 children. She is survived by brothers Nick and Michael and sisters Carol and Nancy. Sisters-in-law Joan, Maureen, Jan and Wendy along with nieces and nephews. Survived by Herbert’s sister Martha (Jacob) of Simcoe. Dorothy lived for her Lord and Savior. She served along with her husband as they pastored for over 50 years together. A wonderful baker and cook, event planner, crafter and so much more. Dorothy took a job in Bramalea at Anthes Business Forms and worked there until she retired. An active member of a few local committees such as Scouting, in which she brought the first Beaver Scouting group to Erin, Campus Life/ Youth with a Mission, Grove Cemetery committee member. An avid sports fan, particularly if her family was playing, she would try to attend as many games as she could. Her favorite was all things Blue and White- Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Dorothy suffered a stroke, brain bleed and pneumonia over a year ago and fought hard to regain her health and strength. She is now pain free and living a life that she was destined for in heaven with her Lord. She is missed by her loving husband, family and friends. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Israel and the Ukraine through Broadway Pentecostal Church. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Broadway Pentecostal Church, # 556 Broadway Avenue, Orangeville, On. Visitation with the family at 10:00am, Service to begin at 11:00am. Reception to Follow. Interment at The Grove Cemetery following the reception. A tree will be planted in memory of Dorothy in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. 22nd Annual Dedication Service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 2:00pm.
