McLEAN, Marion T. (nee Storey)

McLEAN, Marion T. (nee Storey), formerly of Arthur passed away peacefully at Wellington Terrace, Elora on Saturday, April 16, 2016 in her 105th year. Beloved wife of the late Archie McLean (1988). Dear mother of Linda and Norm Porritt of Fergus and Dr. David and Allison McLean of Ottawa. Loving grandmother of Jennifer Porritt and her husband Mike Richardson of Guelph, Susan and her husband Brent Byles of Collingwood; Scott Mclean and his wife Sara of Calgary and Lindsay McLean and her husband Sean Morrison of Ottawa. Loved great grandmother of Audrey, Paige, Gavyn, Tayte, Cayllum, Eleanor, Elias and Kayden. Predeceased by her sister Mildred (Scotty) Royce and brother George (Mary) Storey. Marion grew up on a farm in Eramosa Township, she attended Teachers College and started teaching at the age of 19.  After 10 years of teaching Marion married Archie and became his partner in AR McLean Jewellers until 1973. Living in Arthur she became very involved with in the community and was presented her 70 year pin from the Peace Chapter #52 Order of the Eastern Star. Marion was an active member of the Arthur United Church and the UCW, the Brown Owl as well as the leader of the Arthur Brownies. She had a love of music and shared it with many organizations by playing the piano and singing. Thanks to the support of extended family, friends and community Marion was able to live a full and productive life. For the past eight years she has lived at the Wellington Terrace and her most recent joys were her great grandchildren and the many family birthday celebrations. The family received friends at the Crawford Funeral Chapel, 243 George Street, Arthur, on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 and on Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until time of the Funeral Service in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Spring Interment in Greenfield Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Arthur United Church or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
