It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Donna Jean McLean at The Wellington Terrace on December 8, 2024 at the age of 91. Donna was born in Fergus to Joe and Jean Carter. She worked in the pay office at G.S.W. for many years where she built some of the best friendships of her life. Donna had a love of music and the outdoors, often biking around town and swimming at the Fergus Swimming Pool. She was the family matriarch, the rock everyone turned to for support. She was straightforward and quick witted and always accepting of others. She loved people-their stories and life experiences and being surrounded by conversation and laughter. Donna loved life and was always grateful for all the wonderful things it had to offer. She will be sadly missed by her family and all that knew her. Donna is survived by her children Wendy Law (Tom) of Sicamous B.C., Scott Moir of Fergus, Rhonda Bencosme (Keith) of Amherstburg, Tracey Henderson (Larry) of Elora, her grandchildren Matt Moir (Denise) Ainsley Moir (Cahill) Sarah Law, Chris Henderson, Christina Bencosme (Nick), Kelly Law, Julia Henderson (Nick) Rolando Bencosme (Tim) and her great grandchildren Wyatt, Cohen, Sawyer, Leah, Lily and Maliah. She was a loving step mother to Heather Near (Ted) of Fergus and Bonnie Norris of Fergus and their children Jim Near and Kelly Norris and their children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Charlie McLean, former husband Don Moir, parents Joe and Jean Carter, and siblings Shirley McCabe, Gerry Carter, and Mary Lou Benham. Donna’s family would like to thank the caring staff on Apple Valley at Wellington Terrace and Dr. Stickney for the wonderful care and support they all received during the time she was there. Visitation was held Friday December 13, 2024 at Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home (280 St. David St. S., Fergus, 519-843-3100) from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. A funeral service for the family will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Donna’s name to Wellington Terrace for the beautiful care she received, the Fergus Pipe Band for the joy their music has brought her throughout her life or a charity of your choice.
