It is with great sadness the McLean family announces Alastair’s peaceful passing at home in London Ontario surrounded by family. Alastair was the son of the late Donald and Maude McLean of Badenoch, Ontario. Beloved husband and best friend for over 59 years of Jean (Copeland). Cherished father of John (Laura) and Nancy Thomson (John). Best ever Papa to Connor, Avery, Emma, and Colin. Sadly missed by siblings Lois, Bob (Jean), and Bill. Predeceased by brothers Ian and Alan “Red”, and surviving sisters-in-law Mary Frances and Mary Lou. Remembered fondly by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Brother-in-law to Allan Copeland, Gordon and Cathy Copeland, Doris and Edgar MacDonald, and the late Dale and Janet Copeland. Alastair was raised in Badenoch Ontario, and returned often for family and community events. He enjoyed a long career with CP Rail where he formed life-long friendships. He was a member of Elmwood Avenue Presbyterian Church and the Masonic Order at Campbell Lodge and London Daylight Lodge. Most of all, Alastair was a kind and generous person who adored his family. Cremation has taken place, and due to COVID-19 restrictions a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Special thanks to Dr. Lam and her team at the London Regional Cancer Centre, along with Dr. Sripalan and VON’s palliative care team. Please consider donations to a charity of your choice.
