MCDONALD, Marlene

August 16, 1960 - July 30, 2024

We are sharing our heartbreaking news of Marlene’s sudden passing on July 30, 2024, leaving us far too soon. Loving partner of Jim Seifried for over 35 years. Beloved first born of Annie (2016) and Earl (1994) McDonald. Oldest sibling of Stan (Kelly), Donna (Grant), Wayne (Heather) and Sheila (Graham). Stepmom to Lee (Sheila), Tracey (Don), Kathy (Bill) and Wendy (Rick), along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Special Auntie to Ryan, Ritchie, Dalton, Zoey, Avery, Sam, Tessa, Michelle and Sophia. Marlene had a strong love for her family and friends. With her instantly recognizable laugh and her sense of humor gatherings were always fun-filled and often loud. The brimming baskets she would bring to gatherings would be full of tasty appetizers and desserts, plus a few bottles of wine to share…trying old and new recipes for her family and friends. For decades Marlene was a dedicated volunteer for lacrosse. She served on Elora Minor Lacrosse, OMLA, Zone 8, Elora Mohawks and Ontario Girls Box Lacrosse executive. She developed many lifelong friends while doing this work. Jim and Marlene could be found together cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays or prepping pigeons for races. Marlene really loved watching sports and was excited about the upcoming Olympics. She also looked forward to her trips to Cuba with dear friends each year, sometimes sneaking an extra trip in if she could. Lots of great memories were made. Marlene was an extremely dedicated and hard worker; rarely missing a day from her full time work since she was 18. Over the years she held different roles but the last 9 years she worked at Zehrs Fergus. Here she quickly found her true work family and built many great friendships. Her best fur-buddy Molly will miss her mom horridly. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 25th at the Elora Legion (110 Metcalfe Street, Elora) from 2-5pm. Please join us in sharing stories and laughter in Marlene’s honour. We will not forget Marlene. She will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Marlene may be made to the Elora Legion Branch 229, or to the Aboyne Rural Hospice, and are greatly appreciated by her family.
