It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Rose on May 5, 2024 at the Wellington Terrace in Fergus in her 95th year. She will be greatly missed by her children Mike (Joan), Libby Darroch (Bryan), Jerry (Pam), Paul (Lisa), Tim (Gloria 2024), and Rob (Mary). She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Cal (2007), as well as her son, Peter (1958) and her grandson, Chad (2017). Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Andrea, Jeremy (Tammie), Amberleigh (Tim), Shelby (Eoin), Elise (Anthony), Jasmine, Richelle, Zachary (Meghan), Kristen, Brandon (Midian), Chantal, Charity (Scott), Calvin, T.J and Jeannie (Jesse). She will also be missed by her great grandchildren Hope, Cole, Savannah, Peyton, Jayden, Tristan, Brooklyn, Hayes, Keira, Aria, Chloe, Oakley, Leigha, Emma, Amara and her soon-to-arrive new great grandson. Great-great grandmother of Silas. Rose is survived by her siblings Jimmy Shortreed (Eleanor), Gerald Shortreed (Lynda Phillips) (Gladys 2007), Anne Testori (Bill Hingston 1993 and John Testori 2016) and Brian Shortreed (Lynda). She was predeceased by her parents, John (1996) and Mary (1993) Shortreed, her brothers Kenny (Rose), Jack (Barb) and by “The Best” mother-in-law, Gertrude McCulligh (1989). Friends were received at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, Fergus Chapel, 280 St. David St. South, Fergus, on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 2:00 – 4:00pm and 7:00 – 9:00pm. Prayers with Father Robert Hetu took place at 8:45pm. A Mass of Christian Burial is to be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 760 St. David St. North, Fergus on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 11:00am, followed by burial at St. Mary/ St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Elora. Reception will be held at the Fergus Legion, 500 Blair St, Fergus. Memorial donations can be directed to the Wellington Terrace, Groves Memorial Hospital or St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church.
