MCCRAE, David Alexander

Surrounded by his family and an abundance of love, Dave passed peacefully at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener following his determined efforts to overcome lymphoma. Fiercely devoted to his family, he will be deeply missed by his loving wife of almost 54 years, Janis (Anderson) McCrae, by his children Chris (Cathy) McCrae and Karen McCrae, and his granddaughters Lauren and Rachel McCrae, all of whom he was exceptionally proud. Dave is survived by his sister, Jean Sage and her children Jessica Sage and Ben (Amanda) Sage. Pre-deceased by his brother-in-law, David Sage. He is also remembered by in-laws Rick and Gwen Anderson, their children Heather (Kris), Craig (Kristen), and Ian (Taylor), as well as numerous cousins located across the country. Over his lifetime, Dave’s interests spread far and wide, leading to whole-hearted commitments and involvement within the farming community, township politics, and entrepreneurial ventures. His personality was larger than life, and the enormity of this loss will be keenly felt by his family and the great many friends he made along the way. Cremation has taken place and a visitation will be held in his memory at WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL on Saturday, January 29, 2022 from 1-4pm. Guests must sign up to attend the visitation using the link in Dave’s notice on the funeral home website: www.wallcustance.com. The family would like to express our gratitude for the compassionate care Dave received at Juravinski and Grand River Hospitals. A donation to the Regional Cancer Centre at Grand River Hospital or a charity of your choice is appreciated in lieu of flowers. A tree will be planted in memory of David A. McCrae in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
