McCOLEMAN, Nancy Evelyn

September 21, 1946 - February 28, 2024

We lost our matriarch Nancy Evelyn McColeman, nee Taggart, on February 28, 2024, born September 21, 1946. Nancy’s quick witted humour, unconditional love, unending support, generous spirit and endless charm will be dearly missed. Her open heart and open home leaves a lasting legacy with all of us. She was a trailblazer for her generation and always fought for the underdog. She shared her passionate mind in every debate and conversation. Nancy taught us what true love was – what it meant to put family first, how to laugh in the face of adversity, and how to bring everyone in. She valued everyone’s story. She was a self-sacrificing soul who seldom shared a complaint and offered more than what was asked of her. Nancy was a giver and knew how to stir the pot. She looked at the world with kind eyes. Nancy’s cooking was extraordinary, actually legendary. She became so renowned for her delicious cooking that her recipes were assembled into a cookbook for her future generations to honour her. She could grow anything from flowers for family weddings to any special plant, nurturing them with love and time. She was a one in a million, a true friend to many; and to her family, she was our Gramma Nancy, our leader, and our glue. Her wisdom and approach to life has marked four generations and her influence will echo for many years to come. She’ll be terribly missed. We have it on good authority that there will be martinis in heaven ready for her “a-hole” friends and family. Survived by husband Frank of 58 years, sons Richard (Kelly), Robert (Lisa) and Michael. Grandchildren Caitlyn, Matthew, Emilie (Tom Harper), Steven (Emily), Josiah (Olivia Sharp), Grace, Christopher (Kalle), and Cameron and her great-grandchildren Booker, Felix, Grayson and Sadie. Predeceased by mother Lucille Secor, and siblings Tommy and Janet. Survived by sisters, Carolyn Phipps, Jacqueline Guenther, Marny Ritchie and brother, Robert Taggart. In lieu of flowers, Nancy would appreciate donations to Groves Memorial Hospital Fergus. Her family wishes to thank the myriad of nurses, doctors and volunteers from Grand River Hospital, Groves Memorial Hospital, Bayshore Health Care, Hospice Wellington, and Dr. Lund who have all provided outstanding care for her during the last few months. Celebration of life to take place on May 25 at 1pm at the family home. Contact 519-572-1256 or nancyinmemoryof@gmail.com for details.
