McARTHUR, Gordon Lloyd

Passed away peacefully at Hospice Wellington with his family by his side on November 19, 2024 in his 84th year. He leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend of 66 years Reta (nee Ridler). Gordon was the son of late Wilfred and late Mable (Thompson). Gord was a proud father of Theresa Lane (late Rick) and Annette Montgomery (Peter) and Kelly McArthur (late Shelley), Jackie St Denis (Peter) and Kent McArthur and an adored grandpa of Lindsay (Mary El), Ashley (Kris), Jennifer (Chris), Michelle (Joe), MacKenzie (Rachel), Kurtis (Jules), Brooke (Dave), Ryan, Brett and Benjamin and Cherished Great Grandpa of Alyssa, Carter, Chloe, Liam, Joey, Elgin, Amber, Kruz, Kash, Kenzie, Elle, Halle, Isla and Hoss. Remembered by the Late Doug (late Joan), Late George (Gwen), Jim (Karen), Roy (Elfie), Helen (Late Don), and Joyce (John). Gordon will be greatly missed by in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and many treasured friends and neighbours. Gord was a proud and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was our rock, our hero and our best friend. His family was the light of his life. He enjoyed spending time at his family home in Hillsburgh with family, friends and neighbours. Making new friends and having a good time was always his priority. Gord worked for 35 years at Georgetown Abitibi Paper Mill. He welcomed and touched the lives who he met through his Insurance Brokerage business for 35 years. The Hillsburgh Fire Department Station 50 was a heartfelt commitment where he met many lifelong friends, and he made great memories. Gord was proud to have served 44 years with his Fire family. Gord was also a Masonic Lodge Member. Memorial donations to the Hillsburgh Fire Department Station 50 or Erin Fire Station 10 would be appreciated by the family. Celebration of Gordon’s Life will be held at the Erin Royal Canadian Legion 12 Dundas St E, Erin on Saturday November 30th, 2024 from 2:00 pm – 4:00pm.
