Passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, at eighty-eight on Thursday, February 9th, 2023. She was born to Cecil and Gertrude (née Woods) Martin. Norma is survived by her brothers Fred (Marie) and John (Lexie), three nieces Deborah Donaher (Stephen), Jennifer Murray (Chad), and Kimberley Offman (Saul), and great nieces and nephews Ava, Sofia, Alec, Eli, Fynn, and Naomi. Norma graduated from Fergus District High School with a commercial diploma. She worked at Mutual Life for forty-three years and made some deep friendships. Many of these bonds were maintained long after retirement. With the transition to the workforce, Norma moved to Kitchener. However, she was sure to travel home to Beatty Line on the weekends to be with family. Norma became an avid traveller shortly after starting work. She explored many corners of the world for over 50 years with her cousin Donna by her side. She toured the pyramids of Egypt, had safaris in Africa, and ventured to Australia, to name just a few destinations. Following retirement, she continued to tour the world and focused on her community, home and family. Norma was a lifelong member of Melville United Church and participated in many volunteer activities. She enjoyed spending time with her friends swimming, bowling, playing cards, and attending plays at local theatres. We often joked that she was busier in retirement than when she was working. Norma loved gardening and was skilled at maintaining her geraniums through the winter months. She tended her flowers and vegetable garden with love and careful detail. Norma loved to bake and share her treats. Her Queen’s Elizabeth cake never disappointed. In later years, Norma enjoyed sitting with her brother Fred watching backyard birds and animal antics. Norma adored her family, who were often a topic of conversation. She never missed a family event: births, graduations, weddings, and other milestones. She was a true treasure, and her love of conversation will be missed. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. John Stickney, who provided exceptional care and compassion for many years, Marnie Drost for many years of companionship and care, and Louize Fourie comforting and nurturing touch.
