MARSTON, David (Davey) John

January 2, 1935 - May 17, 2024

89, died peacefully, surrounded by family while sharing stories, listening to his favourite music, and expressing gratitude for the life he had lived at 10:30am at Groves Memorial Hospital on May 17, 2024. Davey was born in Simcoe, Ontario to Errol (Seth) and Katherine (Archibald) Marston on January 2nd, 1935. He married his beloved wife Anne Penelope Brassey in 1966 (who predeceased him in 2020). Predeceased by his brother Robert Marston and his wife Viola Marston. Predeceased by his brother Donald Fairbairn Marston, survived by his sister-in-law Shirley Marston, and their children, Victoria Marston, Pamela Marston-Berk (John Berk), Julie Marston (Bryant Deveaux) and Ben Marston (Cher Smith). Predeceased by his sister Nora Carlaw (Marston) and her husband Wallace Carlaw, survived by their children Elizabeth (Libby) Carlaw, Thomas Carlaw and John Carlaw (Melina Castro Caroprezo). David lived in Elora and joined his mother’s newspaper business, the Elora Express before graduating high school until it was merged with the Fergus Record in 1972. A community builder and avid recreationalist, his many activities included being a member and contributor to the Elora Legion, The Elora Curling Club (honoured for 60 years of participation in 2023), and the Elora Lawn Bowling Club for most of his adult life. He was also an avid card player and regularly participated in and for many years ran the Elora Legion Tuesday Euchre nights. He was also a proud member of the Elora Chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous. He will be eternally grateful to the team at Groves Memorial Hospital for the tremendous care both he and his wife received during periods of illness and in their last days. Donations in his memory can be directed to Groves Memorial. A Celebration of Life will be held for him at the Elora Legion on June 10, 2024, from 1pm to 4pm.
