MANZER, Robert William

MANZER, Robert William – Truro. June 20, 1927 to March 17, 2015. He was born in Chatham, N.B., the eldest son of the late Ralph W. F. Manzer and Ida (Johnston) Manzer. Bob was educated in Chatham and St. Stephen, N.B., and Amherst, N.S. He enjoyed all sports, especially baseball and curling. An ardent outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. The joy of his heart was tramping about with grandchildren. Bob was always active in church offices. He joined the staff of the Bank of Nova Scotia upon graduating from Amherst High School. He worked up the ranks to become manager, with postings in Amherst, Halifax, Truro, and in Toronto, Milverton, New Liskerd, Timmons, North Bay, Guelph and Fergus. He later worked in real estate in Fergus. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Lorna (Chapman), Truro; son Robert (Paulette); daughters Ruth (David) Marcello & Janice Sheehan all in Ontario. Grandchildren, Dan (Anna), Kristy (Jason), Bill (Kelli), Nancy, Russell, Beverly (Mark) and Rebecca; six great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Ralph (Doe), and eldest son, Stephen. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held Wednesday, March 25, from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m., all in Belmont Baptist Church, Rev. Henry Boehm officiated. Donations may be made to Belmont Baptist Church or Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
