Lorna Marie [Chapman] Manzer was born March 5 1930 in Truro NS to Florence [Adams] Chapman & Martin Chapman and grew up on Avon St. in Bible Hill. After graduating from Halifax Children’s Hospital School of Nursing with an RN degree in 1951 she married her best friend Robert (Bob) Manzer, November 21 of that same year. Over the years Lorna nursed in several hospitals from Toronto Western Hospital to North Bay depending where Bobs career with the Bank of Nova Scotia took them. Finally settling in Fergus, Lorna served 20 years with the Guelph Wellington Dufferin VON and finished out her nursing career as ‘Nanny Nurse’ to all of her Grandkids. Lorna was a lifelong and active member of the church and was always helping whenever she was able. Quilting was one of her passions and she would see a new project in every bolt of fabric. There are quilts ‘made with love by Nanny’ for her entire family. Watching a ballgame was another joy in Lorna’s life, especially if Bob or the Grandkids were playing. Overlooking the ocean off the cliffs at North Rustico PEI held a special place in her heart bringing back many happy memories with the family. Loving wife of the late Robert Manzer (2015), mother of the late Stephen (2011) and great grandmother of late Timothy (2008). She will be fondly remembered by her children Robert (Paulette), Ruth & Janice. Grandchildren Dan (Anahid), Kristy (Jason), Bill (Kelli), Nancy, Russell (Sarina), Beverly (Mark) & Rebecca. Great grandchildren Samantha, Morgan, Brooklyn, Kiersten, James, Joelynn, Josh, Jordan & Hayden and great great grandchildren Hayleigh, Grayson & Elijah. Lorna had a love for life, enjoyed the beauty of the country side and always found the bright side in everything. Lorna passed away peacefully in her home May 1st 2022. A service of love to commemorate the life of Lorna Manzer will be held at Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home Saturday May 7th 2022 at 12:00pm.
