MacFarlane, Herbert “Herb”; Peacefully on Sunday, January 27, 2013 with his family by his side. Lovingly remembered by his wife Anne; Children David (Lorna) MacFarlane, Cathy (Harry) Gaebler, Donald (Barbara) MacFarlane and Cheryl MacFarlane; Grandchildren Kimberly, Katelyn, John, Heather, Emma, Harry, Madison, Karl, Adam, Thomas, and Sarah; Brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bill and Joan Tourgis; Cousin, Jack and Marge MacFarlane, as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents John and Irene MacFarlane and five siblings. Herb’s career was entirely devoted to the accounting profession; first in the dental supply industry and then with his own accounting firm. He was actively involved in the scouting movement for many years and in particular with the “Mighty 4th” Humberwest. He loved to sing and spent many memorable years with the Queensmen in Toronto, the Hilltop Singers and St. Andrew’s Church Choir both in Fergus. His other interests included many aspects of church life, camping, cottaging with the family, traveling with Anne and wintering in Florida. Family was always a priority for Herb and he relished any and every opportunity to gather the “Clan” together. Visitation was held at The Graham Giddy Funeral Home, Fergus, on Wednesday, January 30th from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The funeral was at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Fergus on Thursday, January 31st at 11am. Reception followed at St. Andrew’s. The family has requested that donations be directed towards the Groves Hospital Foundation or the Diabetes Association.
