Of Moorefield passed away after a valiant battle with cancer on Friday, April 28, 2023 in his 62nd year. Beloved husband and best friend of Lisa (Kennedy) for 40 years. Loving father of Jacob and Lisa MacDonald of Teeswater, Annie and Mat Oxby of Harriston and Sally MacDonald and her fiancé Mac Beuermann of Seaforth. Cherished Grandpa of Carson, Owen, Rylee, Jace and Miller and remembered fondly by his furry friend Molly. Son of loving parents John and Joyce MacDonald of Teeswater. Brother of Steven and Nancy MacDonald of Cobourg, Warren MacDonald of Teeswater, Diane and Rick Foxton of Teeswater, and Robert “Arch” and Kim MacDonald of Kitchener. Son-In-Law of Betty Kennedy of Teeswater and the late Hugh Kennedy. Brother-In-Law of Don Kennedy and Paula Clark of Allenford, Suzanne and John Anderson of Goderich, Denise “Denny” Kennedy and Jim Stuebe of Venice Beach, California and Philip and Laura Kennedy of Chesley Lake. Memories of Andy will be held close by his many nieces and nephews. Andy was a family man first; he had a fierce love for his wife, children and grandchildren. Andy had a successful career at Hydro One for 38 years, taking on various roles during his time there. Andy spent his years of retirement creating memories with his Grandchildren. Andy was a committed Captain for the Mapleton Fire Department, serving as a well respected member for 26 years. Andy worked hard to give his children all of the experiences and memories that could be packed into one childhood. Andy made the most of his life here on earth, enjoying many trips and vacations with Lisa, his family and friends. Memories of Andy will be deeply cherished by all who knew him. Andy’s family gives great thanks to Dr. Mithoowani and his team at the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre for the exceptional care they provided to Andy. To honour Andy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the Moorefield Fire Hall, 5 Hilwood Dr. Moorefield, on Sunday, May 7th from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 7:00 to 9:00pm. A memorial service of remembrance will be held in the Moorefield Community Centre, 15 Ball Ave. Moorefield, on Monday, May 8th at 2:00pm. A private family interment will take place at a later date at the Culross-Teeswater Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Moorefield Firefighters’ Association, the Culross-Teeswater Cemetery (Columbarium) or the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family.
