of Belwood passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday April 28th in his 87th year. Survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Dorothy. Father of Jon and his wife Kim Lucas, Shirlee and her husband Dave Willis, Lisa and her husband RD Branton, Kieth Lucas and Cari Ripley. Grandfather to Jack and Daphne, Tim and Thanida, Pip and Brenna, and Paul and Paige, AJ, Alicia and Emma, Becky and Sarah, Suzie. Great grandfather to Zoe and Hanna, CJ , Emylia and Eliza, Jack and Lucy. Bill loved his family and his time spent in nature. He often combined the two by leading the pack into the woods for a family picnic. Bill was an avid sportsman and took much pleasure in his time in the wilderness with his faithful dogs. Bill was the founder of a local business, CP Industries, and enjoyed working with a terrific staff. He cared deeply for them and always spoke highly of the people he worked with and met. Bill also farmed for many years on the family farm near Alma. He truly enjoyed working with the animals and crops. Bill was born in Hamilton in the 1930’s and began early to help provide for his family. He hauled coal and ice blocks into homes with his brother. He drove the delivery truck long before allowed, just to keep things going. His hard work ethics never ended and helped keep him going long after his body told him to stop. Dad was a terrific storyteller and would entertain us for hours with stories about the camaraderie of his youth. He spoke of courting Mom and the great holidays they had in Red Bay where they eventually purchased a family cottage. They were great memories of a different time. Dad will be immensely missed. He was our family anchor and leaves a void too large to fill. Though Dad had a terrific life there will always be one more conversation missed. I guess we will just have to wait for the next family picnic. As per his selfless wishes there was only a private family ceremony.
