John was born in Odense, Denmark on June 4, 1933. He and his family immigrated to Canada when he was 18 years old. A few years later, he met the love of his life, Betty and they married. They had 4 children together. Sadly, their first born child, Katherine, passed away from cancer. He and Betty were married for 64 years. John and his dad, Carl Larsen, had a building company and they built 100 homes and Bethel Baptist Church in Fergus. John had a passion for Jesus and readily shared his love for Him wherever he went. John was a carpenter and often amazed his family at the things he designed and created. He was also an avid reader and he tried to apply the things he learned in the books to his life. John loved music. He and Betty sang together in church and he enjoyed being part of a quartet called the Bethelaires. He played the trombone and was part of the Lee County Community Band in Florida and the New Horizon Band in Guelph and Waterloo. John loved his children and went to Denmark with them and Betty when he was 85 years old. He showed us all around where he grew up. He introduced us to many of our Danish family and this time traveling together is a very treasured memory. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren and prayed very earnestly for each one to know and love Jesus like he did. In his life, Jesus got sweeter as the days went by and even though we will miss him greatly here, we know we will see him again in Heaven. John passed away at Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus on July 4, 2024. John will be missed by his loving wife Betty (Elizabeth), and his children Shelley Wyatt (Alastair), Kristine Bundy (David) and Eric Larsen (Patti). Proud grandfather of Joshua Wyatt (Katrina), Scott Wyatt (Hannah), Anne Wannop (Tom), Derek Bundy (LeighAnn), Danielle Larsen, Kaleb Larsen, Kirk, Keith, Keegan and Kari Hollett, and Kirsten Deruchie (Kyle), as well as 11 great grandchildren. He is survived by his sister Ingrid Marshall (Larsen), as well as many loved nieces and nephews and family in Denmark. Predeceased by his parents Carl and Esther Larsen, sister Bodil Nielsen, and daughter Katherine Ann Larsen (Hollett). As per John’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
