LAMONT, Campbell Anderson (Skip)

Of Guelph, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Thursday, June 8th 2023, in his 88th year. Skip is lovingly remembered by his wife Catherine (Marie) for 67 years. He was a loving dad to the late Rick (2022) (Maureen), Terry (Debbie), Brian (Michelle), Kelsey (Michelle), and Leanne Fletcher (Tony). He leaves behind his grandchildren, Ryan Lamont (Kassandra), Crystal Roddy (T.J.), Marisa Lamont, Cayla Lamont (Zach Scinocca), Chelsea Vidler (Eric), Madison MacDonnell (Ernie), Lindsay Fletcher. Skip adored his great-grandchildren, Neville, Colson, Cedric, and Lena. Skip was also predeceased by his parents Campbell and Janet. He will be fondly remembered by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Art and Helen Cutten. Skip grew up on Lyon Avenue in Guelph, but many weekends were spent working on the family farm on the Kitchener highway. Skip and Marie later farmed in Guelph Township where they raised their five children. It was full of busy days and nights with his young boys in tow trying to keep up and help as best they could. Farming was his life and he worked hard to support his family. They later moved onto another chapter in their lives. Having a cottage at Sauble Beach, since he was a boy, this is where they decided to settle their roots.  Purchasing a hardware/lumber store in Sauble was certainly a new venture for them. They later had bigger dreams and built a larger store the “Lamont Do-It Centre” right on main street coming into Sauble. He served his community for many years before retiring.  They retired at Big Bay with a waterfront property. Retirement life gave them that tranquility in the summer and were lucky enough to enjoy warmth down in Florida. They then decided being closer to family was most important and moved back to Guelph where most of their children lived. Living out his last years in Guelph. The memories his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren have will live on in our hearts forever. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Thank you to the nurses and Dr. Sidney Brodovsky and his family doctor, Dr. Paul Mendonca for their kindness and compassion that made his last day of life peaceful, respectful, and filled with dignity. A private family interment will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Friends and family will be received for a memorial drop-in to celebrate Skip’s life at the Wall-Custance Funeral Home & Chapel, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, on Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 12:00–2:00pm in the Reception Centre.
