It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nick Kuipers surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the age of 78, in Kingsville. He was the loving husband of Barbara Jean for almost 37 years. Loving father to Peter (Tammy), Nick Jr. (Sarah), Jessie Kuipers (Joe) and his step children, Andy Dowling (Tara), Doug Dowling (Sarah Jane) and Crista Thompson (Jason). Cherished Grandpa to 19 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. Dearest brother of Helen McDonald, Diane Bootsma (Andy), Alide Kooistra (Andy), late Joanne Kiers (Bill), Peter Kuipers (Jayne) and Hessy Meester (Harry), Rick Kuipers (Helena) and brother-in-law of Marilyn Coupal (late Terry), John Crispin (Pat), late Linda Crispin and late Harvey Crispin (Jackie). He will also be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. He was a proud and dedicated police officer with Guelph O.P.P., Harriston Police Force, served as Police Chief in Dresden and Kingsville and retired from Essex O.P.P. Manning Road detachment in 2006. He loved God and was a long time member of Essex Christian Reformed Church, enjoyed his gardens, bird watching, fishing, playing cards and his favourite time was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Royal Oak for their kindness and compassion that Nick received. Visiting took place on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Essex Christian Reformed Church, 276 Talbot Street South, Essex. Visiting will continue at the church, on Thursday, October 31, 2024 from 12pm until time of Funeral Service to celebrate Nick’s life at 1pm. Livestream will be available at www.reidfuneralhome.ca.
