Ted emigrated from the Netherlands in the 1950s with his wife to begin a new life in Canada. Their dream of owning their own dairy farm came true in Fergus in 1963. After many years of hard work, he was a well respected Holstein breeder. He was equally proud of his children and grandchildren and their accomplishments. After retiring from the dairy farm, Ted and Mary started a cash crop farm finally allowing them to travel. It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Theodorus (Ted) Klein-Gebbinck in his 89th year in the early morning of February 6th at Groves Memorial Community Hospital. Loving husband of 60 years to Mary Klein-Gebbinck and cherished father of Marian (Gary) Merrett, Carolyn (Russell) Wilson, JoAnne (Steve) Kotlarz, and John (Amanda Jacobs) Klein-Gebbinck. Beloved Opa to eight grandchildren, Katelyn, Cory, Scott, Derek, Talia, Tanner, Joseph and Christina. Predeceased by his brother Jan Klein-Gebbinck and parents Gerardus and Maria Klein-Gebbinck from the Netherlands. He will be fondly remembered by nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. Friends will be received at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home & Chapel, 280 St. David St. South in Fergus on Friday, February 14th, 2020 from 5:00 to 8:00pm. Funeral service will be conducted at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, February 15th, 2020 at 11:00am. Reception to follow in the church hall. Internment at St. Marys/St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Elora. If you wish to make a memorial donation in Ted’s memory, the family would appreciate that you consider St. Joseph Church Building Fund or Groves Memorial Community Hospital Foundation.
