Kerr, Garry

Kerr, Garry; Garry Clifford Kerr was born on March 3rd, 1937 in Klienburg, Ontario. He was the second child of James Kerr and Mae (Ellis) Kerr. He lived in Klienburg until he was 3 when his family moved to West Luther and later when he was 5 to the farm on Highway 89 that he would call “home”. He attended SS #10 and Levendale schools. He loved farming and worked side by side with his father and mother. In 1957 he met Janice King and they were married December 9, 1961. They started their family in 1963 with the birth of a daughter Debbie, then William, Twins Sheila and Sherry, and Donald. In later years Garry went to Agricultural Drainage School at Ridgetown College and worked for 17 years helping to improve farm land to grow better crops. Garry and Janice moved to the Hopeville district for 13 years. His health started to deteriorate and it was deemed necessary to move “home”. This past December 9th Garry and Janice celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Garry passed away February 19th, 2012. He had a strong faith and love for God and a great love for his family, friends and neighbours. He was always ready with a helping hand and a pleasant smile. A very close friend said “Garry Kerr was a quiet man with a huge heart. The world is a better place having had this man in it and we are better for having known him.”
