It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edgar Robert Kent. Born 1924 in Loreburn, Saskatchewan to Arthur and Mary (Woods) of Sundridge, Ontario. Predeceased by siblings Ruth, Norman, David, Harold and his beloved wife of 68 years, Elizabeth Lillian (Lugo). He will be missed by his children Gordon (Geraldine Virtue), Donald (Wendy Wing) and Katherine (John Jeffers), 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. After moving to the Guelph area Edgar attended No 4 Nichol School and GCVI before joining the RCAF and serving overseas. The Air Force remained part of his life; flying with the Air Force Reserve; activities with the Wings Club; Officer and Civilian Instructor with Air Cadets. Edgar’s working life was with GM at Daymond Motors/Guelph Motor Products / Barry Cullen’s. Edgar was an active member of Barrie Hill United Church for 86 years serving his community and church. He and Lillian devoted much of their retired years visiting and assisting those church and community members requiring help. The family would like to extent their profound thanks for the care and affection provided for Edgar by the staff at Wellington Terrace in Fergus. There will be visitation at Wall-Custance Funeral Home, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph on Thursday, November 28, 2019 from 5:00 – 8:00pm and at Barrie Hill United Church, 5702 Wellington County Rd. 29, Rockwood on Friday, November 29 from 10:00 – 11:00am. The funeral service will be held at Barrie Hill United Church at 11:00am. Reception to follow in the church hall. Memorial contributions to Barrie Hill United Church or Wellington Terrace would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Edgar R. Kent in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 20, 2020 at 2:30pm.
