Mrs. Joyce Keir passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Health Care Centre, Guelph on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at the age of 89 years. Beloved wife of the late Searle (Si) Keir for 65 years. Proud and loving mother of Steven (Jeannette) and Scott (Viviana). Grandmother of Matthew, Daniel and Mark. Joyce is survived by her brother, Doug (Eileen), and predeceased by brothers Jack, Bob and Dick. Fondly remembered by many nephews and nieces. Joyce was a remarkable woman who led an extraordinary life. Born during the Depression in small-town Watford, Ontario, she went on to raise a family and establish households in four countries scattered across four continents. She and Si travelled extensively throughout their marriage, and were avid golfers and bridge players. She was also a great cook who loved to entertain, and her engaging personality resulted in many life-long friendships. A special thanks to family doctor, Dr. David Hood, and the kind and caring staff at St. Joseph’s Cedarbrook wing. Family and friends are invited to the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph on Saturday, 17 August, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. A Celebration of Joyce’s life will take place at 3:00pm.
