JENKINS, (Dolcey) Marie (McMullen)

It is with extremely heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Marie Jenkins, peacefully with her family by her side, at Guelph General Hospital in her 87th year. Reunited with her loving and devoted husband the late Douglas Jenkins (May 23, 2023) on Valentines Day February 14, 2024. Loving mother of Russ (Nancy), Gail (Terry) Lamorea, Debbie (Lyle) Strickland and Ken (Ruth). Very proud grandmother of Anthony (Audra), Liane (Chris), Jennifer (Matt), Bryan (Meaghan), Aaron (Brianna) and Jacob (Caitlin). Great-Grandmother of 11. Predeceased by her parents Trueman and Dolcey McMullen. In her late teens Mom went to business school and started her career as a telephone operator. Once she became a mother, she stayed home, helped run the family cleaning business and kept all the books. Mom loved to bake and shared her goodies and cheeseballs at Christmas every year. Mom was always kind and non-judgmental, everyone felt welcome in their home. She never wanted for anything more than her home and family. The family has many fond memories of road trips with the trailer, Mom with map in hand as co-pilot, eventually the trailer was parked at Driftwood Beach where many new friends were met, and more memories were made. Mom loved a good game of cards and enjoyed listening to Dad play music at any party or function. Mom has missed Dad dearly since his passing and truly died of a broken heart. Now they are together forever. Special thanks to the Stone Lodge staff for the care and support Mom has received and Dr. Shafir and the 4th floor staff for the comfort in her last days. A celebration of Marie’s life will be held March 23, 2024. Friends will be received at 1:30pm, service to start at 2:00pm at Arkell United Church, 600 Arkell Road, Arkell. Reception to follow in the church hall. Inurnment Union Cemetery, Alliston, June 4, 2024. Arrangements entrusted to Wall-Custance Funeral Home & Chapel (519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com).
