Jackson, George William: Of Rockwood passed away peacefully at the Guelph General Hospital on Saturday, May 30, 2009 in his 90th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Jeanne (Murray) for over 62 years. Loving and devoted father of Margie (Wayne) Michalski, Robert (Laurie), James (Linda), Carolynne (Bob) Askin, Andrew (Nadine), Douglas, Sheila Penn (Paul Elder). He will be remembered with much love by his grandchildren Elizabeth & Chris, Michael & Jen, Bill & Gail, Ben & Cyndi, Katie, Brad, David & Christina, April & Jeff, Rob, Christopher & Jamie, Paul & Katie, Alex, Christopher, Steven, Joseph & Sarah, Naomi & Nick, Montana, Jeffrey, Adam and Sam. Also remembered by his great-grandchildren Ethan, Lucas, Nicholas, Katie, Matthew, Jakob, Eric, Connor, Nathan, Olivia, Malakai and Madeline. He is survived by his brother Herbert (Geordie), his sister Della (Art) Grice and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father Frank, his mother Edna, his brothers Jim, Elwood, and Cecil and his sisters Clara and Ida. George served his country in the army during WWII, was a member of the Guelph Township School Board at the time of consolidation, and was a steward of the Stone United Church. He began dairy farming in the Guelph area in 1952 and was one of the first to have the Woods ice bank bulk milk cooler system. He was a quiet man of integrity and faith who dearly loved his family. He will be deeply missed by all. Visitation was held at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St, Guelph, on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A Memorial Service was held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 11am. A private burial service will be held at a later date following cremation. Memorial donations can be directed to the Salvation Army, the Guelph General Hospital, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice.
