Jaakson, Annelore We give thanks to a wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Annelore (Anne) Jaakson passed away this Thanksgiving Day after a battle with cancer. Anne in her matter-of-fact way said she was not afraid of leaving this world. She was happy with her accomplishments throughout her 68 years, as a loving wife for 47 years to Reiner Jaakson, as mother of two daughters Catherine (John) and Irene (Barb) and most importantly as Nana to her granddaughters Savannah and Melody. Anne spent her career teaching with school boards in Montreal, Regina, Toronto, and Etobicoke. She was highly regarded for her contributions in the field of teaching English as a Second Language including publishing several text books. Upon retirement Anne enjoyed traveling with her husband to visit family and friends in different countries. Anne’s heart belongs at her farmhouse near Arthur where Anne and Reiner have created beautiful perennial gardens and have cultivated a large vegetable garden to help feed family, friends, and the residents at a women’s shelter. The family wishes to thank all those who helped Anne and Reiner to cope with their difficulties during the last couple of months of Anne’s illness. The family thanks our neighbours on the 16th line in Mapleton Township. We are also grateful for the excellent nursing care provided by Bayshore Home Health, especially nurse Kate Wick. The family is grateful for the excellent medical care, as well as the compassion and moral support, of Dr. Chris Lund. Finally, we thank those at Anne’s church, the United Church in Arthur, particularly Reverend Martin Dawson, and the Chairperson of the Women’s Committee, Patricia Waters, and members of that committee who provided us with prepared meals, flowers, support, and most importantly, their prayers.
God bless you all!
