Passed away after an illness the morning of Monday, March 10, 2025 in London, Ontario. She was in her 90th year. Beloved wife of Ralph (d. 2021), and loving mother to Cindy (David) Harman of Crapaud P.E.I., Karen (Peter d. 2022) Ruane of Millbrook, ON, Judy (Michael) Maguire of London, ON, and David (Daphne) Ingleby of Three Brooks N.S. Dear grandmother of seven and great-grandmother of nine. Daughter of Albert and Ethel Joy, Carol grew up in Cobalt, Ontario. She was the 2nd youngest of thirteen siblings, all deceased. As a young adult, Carol left the north for Toronto to work for the TTC, later marrying Ralph in 1956. They soon became a family of six. Many years were spent making new friends and getting to know other areas of Ontario as a minister’s wife. Goodwood, followed by Coe Hill (where we still visit our family cottage), on to Fort Erie, Elora, Warkworth, Chesley and finally retiring in London. She is survived by her sister-in-law Helen Ingleby, who resided at the retirement home with her, and was a constant companion to Carol after Ralph’s death. Carol was passionate about her love of family and enjoyed gatherings and holidays that involved bringing everyone together. Particularly, she loved playing with each of the great-grandchildren as they came along. She enjoyed any opportunity to play cards or board games with family and friends. She had a fondness for music and always enjoyed the many entertainers that performed at the retirement home she called home, for the past seven years. Her passing has left a big hole in our family, but she is now with her beloved Ralph, whom she has missed these past years. A service will be held June 25th at 11am at Melville United Church, in Fergus. Internment and luncheon to follow. Donations in Carol’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
“And now these three remain:
faith, hope and love, the greatest of these is love.”
