Howes, George Elwood; Born November 23, 1924 on the 6th line of West Garafraxa Township. WWII veteran Governor General’s Foot Guards 4th Canadian Armoured Brigade and lifelong resident of Fergus and member of RCL Br#275, Fergus. Also a longtime member of Fergus Game and Fish Protective Association. Predeceased by wife Ruth Rayson. Will be missed by daughter Lynda (Eagles) of Meaford; Bob (Brenda) of Feversham. Grandchildren Paul (Nancy) Eagles, Julie (Eagles) (Mark) Pendleton, Leah Howes. Great grandchildren: Justin, Brandon, Kourtney Eagles, Marlie, Ally Pendleton. Survived by his sisters Marion Maine, Arlene(Cal) Martin. Predeceased by his parents Charles (Carl) and Mary (Oswald) Howes, brothers, James, Oswald, Kenneth and son in law Ken Eagles. Visitation was held at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, Fergus on Friday, July 4th, 2014 from 10:00-11:00 am. A Legion service was held at 11:00 which was followed by a funeral service.
