Peacefully, but unexpectedly on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at the Louise Marshall Hospital in her 101st year. Predeceased by her husband Arthur Moses Hotson (1998). Loving mother of Bernie Hotson and his wife Susan, Jennifer Hotson, and Geoff Hotson and his wife Debbie. Beloved grandmother of Sarah Rice (Shannon), Erin, Matthew, Mark and great-grandmother of Wilde. Joyce is survived by her younger sister Brenda Bates (late Vernon Bates). She will be missed by her nephews Nigel and Tony, her nieces Beverley and Sylvia, her extended family and many friends. Predeceased by her sister Clarry, and brothers Reg and George. Joyce loved horses, whether it was her own in younger years, or the horses of friends and family. She enjoyed hockey, especially the Toronto Maple Leafs. Joyce loved being outside, especially when she was fishing. She was a voracious reader, an artist in oil painting and enjoyed music. Above all, she cherished her family. Her memory will live on in their hearts forever. The family would like to thank the PSW’s from CarePartners for their exceptional care over the past few years. Private funeral service was held at the England Funeral Home followed by cremation. Interment will take place in the Mount Forest Cemetery.
