Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend, passed away on Monday December 3, 2018 at Freeport Hospital,Kitchener in her 94th year. She was predeceased by her husband Alec, her brothers James, Bill, and Pat, her sister Anne, and sisters-in-law Annie Olinyk and Helen Hoshooly. She is survived by her daughter Joan Berry (Al) of Fergus, and by her son Gerard (Jan) of Waterloo. Also survived by her sister Margaret (Ralph) Meyer, of Goderich, and brothers Tim (late Catherine) Mahony, of Guelph, and Dan (Joan) Mahony of Tillsonburg. Sister-in-law to Mary Lapshinski, Jenny McDougall, Mary Pat Mahony, Lenore Mahony, and Rose Mahony. Grandma to Eric (Jordan) Hoshooley of Waterloo, Sara (Ruwan) of Vancouver, and Ryan (Carrie) of Fergus. Proud great grandma to Stella Hoshooley. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Sheila was the eldest of eight children born to Hannah and James Mahony in Arthur, Ontario on March 22, 1925. She lived in Ireland from 1938 to 1946, and enjoyed trips back there in 1984 and 1992. Sheila was a resident of Guelph since 1947, a longtime employee at Zeller’s Eramosa, and a long term resident of Stone Lodge, where she enjoyed an excellent quality of life, and had many friends. She was a woman of great faith. She worked hard throughout her life to provide for and support her family. Special thanks to the staff at Guelph General 4th floor, and the NB unit at Freeport for their professional care and compassion over these last weeks. The family received relatives and friends at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph, on Friday, December 7, from 2:00 – 4:00pm and from 7:00 – 9:00pm. A Funeral Mass was held at St. Joseph’s Church, 409 Paisley Road, Guelph, on Saturday December 8 at 11:00am.
