Passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 17, 2023 in his 94th year. Predeceased by his wife Florence (Martin) Horst (2021). Dear father of James and Eileen Horst of Elmira, Vernon Horst of Elmira, (Erla 2020) and Amsey Brubacher of Wallenstein, Marlene and Gorden Frey of Drayton, Murray and Emma Horst of Teeswater, Donald and Mary Horst of Shelbourne, Sharon and Ernie Martin of Drayton, Wilma and Wayne Brubacher of Elmira, Willis and Erma Horst of Arthur, Nancy and Brian Martin of Elmira, Martha and Murrel Sauder of Wallenstein, and Florence and Oscar Gingrich of Elmira. Lovingly remembered by 66 grandchildren and 169 great-grandchildren. Survived by siblings Harvey Horst and Melinda Martin; brothers and sisters-in-law Eileen Martin, Maryann Martin, Salome Martin, Almeda and Leonard Martin, Ruth and Leonard Metzger, and Carl Wideman. Predeceased by parents Samuel and Martha Horst, daughter Erla Brubacher (2020), grandchildren Glen Frey and Colleen Horst, great-grandson Lyndon Frey, brothers and sisters-in-law George and Anna Horst, Joyce Horst, Ervin S. Martin, Delton Martin, Walter and Nancy Martin, Edward Martin, Stuart and Luella Martin, Nancy Wideman, Leonard S. Martin, Oscar W. Martin, and Edmund Martin. Family received friends and relatives on Sunday, November 19, 2023 from 2-5 and 6-8pm and on Monday, November 20, 2023 from 2-5pm at the home of Oscar Gingrich, 2764 Floradale Rd., Elmira. A family service was held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at 9am at the home, followed by burial and public service at North Woolwich Mennonite Meeting House.
