Hoag,Edith; Edith Hoag passed away peacefully at home in her 92nd year on Wednesday July 10th, 2013. Born in England in 1921, Edith came to Canada with her parents at a very young age. Her long nursing career started with training near London. She cared for injured veterans and was involved in the treatment of TB patients at the Freeport Hospital in Kitchener. Edith was head nurse for 10 years at Guelph General before coming to Groves Memorial Hospital as afternoon supervisor. She spent many years at Groves Memorial Hospital eventually becoming Director of Nursing and Administrator and played an important role in the expansion of that facility. Edith is survived by her loving husband Fred, son George, and grandchildren Matthew and Alyssa. Visitation Friday, July 19 at The Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David Street South, Fergus from 1:00 – 2:00pm with Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 pm.
